Have you ever been on a plane?
Do you remember your first plane trip?
Where did you go?
On September 11, 2001, the world changed.
Flying somewhere today is a whole new experience.
It has been 20 years since the tragic events in NYC
What do you know about the attacks on September 11, 2001?
Why is it important to understand how 9/11 affected the world?
Explain.

I have been on a plane for many occasions and reasons.
ReplyDeleteI don’t really remember the first time I was on a plane because I was fairly young but the first plane I remember was when I was in kindergarten. We were going to Germany for my uncle and aunt’s wedding anniversary. I don’t remember how many years they were married but it was like 50 years. It was the first time I was meeting them and I remember having a lot of fun and enjoying lots of pastries. I ended up losing my backpack with my toys at the airport but my other uncle and aunt who were there got me a new one. I enjoyed the trip a lot and got to meet a lot of my family for the first time.
I have heard the story of 9 11 a lot so I know a lot about what happened. I have seen pictures of some of the dangers that had happened. 9 11 has affected the whole world in a very powerful way. Airports are know a lot more careful with security and many people lost their lives.
I completely agree with your views on 9/11 it did affect the world in a powerful way. I also love your annecdote about your trip to Germany it sounded super fun.
DeleteI also started traveling at a young age
DeleteI have been on a plane multiple times in my life, the first time I can rember though would have to be when I was 5 and my parents took me on a trip to Paris. It was super beautiful and I got to explore a whole new city full of culture and amazing sights.
ReplyDeleteI have heard and read the story of 911, I know that it was a planned attack by the militant Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States. I am also aware that there were many casualties and that air travel has changed drastically since then. Security measures and protocols were enhanced a lot and rules and regulations are being taken way more seriously. I think it is very important that people know what happened because the lives that were lost and the sacrifices some of those people made to save others should never be forgotten.
I have always wanted to go to Paris.
DeleteI completely agree with why you think it is important.
DeleteI agree with your point of view on why people should know about 9/11.
DeleteI fly on airplanes a lot. My dad is a flight attendant so we are able to get cheaper flights which makes them more available to us. This also means we can usually fly in business class if there is available room. The first time I flew on a plane I remember that we were going to Turks and Caicos to meet up with our old neighbors who had to move away.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the attack of 9/11, recently from the internet, I’ve heard lots of personal stories but I learned a lot more when I was younger. I read the I Survived book about the attack and we were taught about it in school. The attack on September 11th deeply affected the world especially for Islamic people. The attack led to a lot of islamophobia because of prejudices that people had. For some reason people believed that just because the terrorists who did the attack were Islamic that every other Islamic person would do the same.
I agree with you, it's really sad that that has to happen.
DeleteI 100% agree with your statements. Islamic people are mistreated and overlooked as terrorists, when they aren't.
DeleteI think I started traveling around the age of 3 so I’ve been on quite of few planes over the years. Because I was so young, I can’t exactly remember my first ever plane ride or even where I went.
ReplyDeleteI know that 9/11 was a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the militant Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States of America. The events of 9/11 not only reshaped the global response to terrorism, but raised new and troubling questions about security, privacy, and treatment of prisoners. It reshaped US immigration policies and led to a surge in discrimination, racial profiling, and hate crimes.
I have never been on an airplane but I hope to go on one soon. I know that the 9/11 attacks were planned terrorist attacks committed by a terrorist group called al-Qaeda. Four airplanes were hijacked by multiple terrorists that day. Their main objective was to crash these planes into government buildings across the United States of America, such as the Twin Towers in New York City and The Pentagon. Unfortunately, they succeeded. The aftermath resulted to almost 3000 deaths and over 25 000 injuries. There was definitely billions of dollars in property damage as well. 9/11 changed the world in a very powerful and tragic way forever. It's important to understand this because of all the lives that were lost. It's a way to reflect and realize how grateful you really are to have amazing people around you, because thousands of people lost theirs.
ReplyDelete"way to reflect and realize how grateful you really are to have amazing people around you" Wonderful statement!
DeleteI have been on a plane before. The first time I ever did was when I went to Jamaica. My first time ever being on a plane was pretty nauseating. In addition, I was forced to wake up very early in the morning in order to catch my flight.
ReplyDeleteThe 9/11 incident was something I was not aware of before the 20 year anniversary. What I have learnt is that it was a terrorist attack that occurred September 11, 2001. Innocent lives were taken. Four planes were involved in a crash that effected two different locations. Two planes attacked the twin towers in New York and the other two attacked the U.S. Pentagon just outside of Virginia.
It is important for everyone to be aware of the dangers in this world and that any moment can be your last. I believe that 9/11 was a reminder to everyone that we should appreciate and show our affection to those we love because we will never know when it will be our last time seeing them.
The blog above is mine's. Do you see my name, Asherah, when the blog is posted.
ReplyDeleteI Unfortunately don't remember my first time on a plane, but I was only 3 years old. My parents were taking me to Mexico, somewhere on the Yutcan peninsula, although I don't remember where exactly.
ReplyDeleteI feel I don't know that much about 9/11. I know that both the north and south towers of the World Trade Center were each hit by a plane, as well as the Pentagon. American Airlines flight 11 struck the north tower, United Airlines flight 175 struck the south tower and American Airlines flight 77 struck the Pentagon. United Airlines flight 93 was headed for the White House, but the passengers were able to overwhelm the terrorists and pressured them into crashing the plane in a field. I believe the attacks to be similar to the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Both seemed to have to very similar goals. Attack a large symbol of patriotism to lower morale, and take out the country's actual ability to defend themselves. If the American public saw major symbols of their nation crumble, they likely wouldn't want to fight. However both times, it had the complete opposite effect. Patriotism turned almost to nationalism, and war was waged immediately afterwards.
PS: Islamic terrorists are known as "Salafi Jihadists" and the ideology is "Jihadist-Salafism"
DeleteI also can't remember my first time on a plane. Great blog!
DeleteMy first time ever on a plane was when I was seven years old and my family and I were going to Cuba for March break. I didn’t really know what to expect, all I had to base myself on was movies and television shows. I had a rather enjoyable experience, actually I loved it and it is now one of the things I look forward to the most when going on vacations, however, it is definitely not the case for everyone.
ReplyDeleteI have heard about the attack that happened on 9/11. It was quite a tragic day for not only united-states citizens, but the whole world. I think it was definitely a big shock to our society. I have heard stories about how it all happened and I always think about the people who lost loved ones on that day. Many lives were lost, from the people in the planes, buildings, on the streets, and first responders coming to help. As a result, there was also a lot of discrimination and racism against Islamic people, thinking that they would all do such a horrible thing just because they are Islamic. Flying now has many more safety precautions than it did before. I know that Canada, especially Newfoundland, took in a lot of American citizens into their homes because the United-States wasn’t letting in any flights for a few days after the incident, so people had to land in Canada instead. I think that it is important to know about 9/11 because it was a big part of our history. It teaches us to spend time with our loved ones because we never know when you will see them again. It also shows us to live each day as if it was our last because it might just be. I think that this also proves that the world is obviously a better place when we are supporting each other.
I agree, I look forward to the plane rides when my family and I go on vacations too!
DeleteYes, i have been on a plane before, many times actually. my first time flying was when i was 5 months old. i was going to england to visit my family.
ReplyDeleteI dont know that much about the attacks on september 11, 2001. all i know is that there were two planes that were hijacked and were steered and crashed into the world trade center. i also know that a lot of people were hurt physically and emotionally that day. people would forever be traumatized by the events that happened that day. it is important to understand how 9/11 affected the world because it was a serious event. lives were taken, and others were scarred for life. it changed they way people travelled on airplanes; more security, better equipment, safer airlines, etc.
I also understand that many lives were taken and that many guidelines had to be altered.
DeleteI like the points you made, the lives lost will never be forgotten.
DeleteI have been on a plane a few times and I don’t remember my first flight as I was just a baby. My family and I went to Florida. Since then I have been on a few more flights but my family doesn’t travel too much.
ReplyDeleteI know that the attacks on September 11th, 2001 were at the World Trade Center. When the first plane crashed into the north tower, most people thought it was an accident at first, but when the second plane crashed into the south tower shortly after everyone knew it was a planned attack on the United States of America.
It’s incredibly important to know and understand what happened on 9/11 as it is such a tragic moment as so many innocent lives were lost and so many people were affected. The world and airline policies have definitely changed because of it.
I think most people looking back don't realise that the general public thought it was an accident. There had already been multiple crashes above New York city and in other places around the world, so even the government completely dissmissed it as an accident before the second tower was hit.
Deletei agree, we need to be educated on 9/11, great blog!!
DeleteI 100% agree,, as someone who's also been travelling since before I can remember, this should be spoken about among young people, not only for it's historical significance, but because many jobs require travelling via plane.
Deleteyour name
ReplyDeleteI totally agree
DeleteIn my entire 14 years on this earth, I have never once embarked on a motorized flying machine. Due to this, I also dont remember where or how my first voyage was. I know a bit about the attacks on the World Trade Center. I know it involved 2 hijacked planes being steered into the twin towers. I know it was organized by a terrorist organisation. It has affected the world in multiple ways. Many lives were lost, millions in damages, and now air travel is different. Theres more security in the airports, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I went on a plane I was around 5 years old and I was going back to Montreal from Windsor Ontario. I remember that while taking off I was terrified because we were going so fast and I could feel the pressure change. My ears popped once we were flying then I remember being very bored for 3 hours having nothing to do. Over the years I’ve heard many stories about the 9/11 attack such as how it was a planned attack, it killed 2,977 and there is now a fountain memorial for all the people that died. 9/11 changed the world and flights forever because now there is much more security before boarding a plane. The attack took many lives that day which is why it is important to remember what happened.
ReplyDeleteI have been on airplanes numerous times. When I was younger my parents worked for Canadian Embassies in many countries and we lived and travelled all over the world. The first time that I was on a plane I was 3 weeks old. I was travelling from Bangkok, Thailand , my birthplace, to Islamabad, Pakistan, where we lived at the time. I have travelled all around the world and been on a lot of planes.
ReplyDeleteI know that 9/11 was a planned series of terrorist attacks from the group al-Qaeda and that four planes were hijacked and two hit the Twin Towers in New York City. The Twin Towers were destroyed and 2,996 people died. In memory of all the lives lost there is a monument and a museum in New York.
Because of this tragic event, air travel security and safety measures have been improved to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. Before 9/11 security in airports was said to be almost invisible with no real security measures. Nowadays airports have many security checkpoints including metal detectors and x-ray machines. Passport rules have also been made stricter by airlines and border officials around the world.
Yes I have been on a plane multiple times. My first trip was to Punta Cana. I don’t remember much though due to the fact that I was only six years old.
ReplyDeleteI do not know much about the 9/11 terrorist attack due to no one really ever talking about it to me but here is the information that I do know; on September first 2001 two planes crashed into the world trade center also known as the twin towers the first tower to be hit was the north tower, I had also heard that the employees of the south tower were told to stay at their seats; obviously they didn't listen due to the panic and their common sense. This has affected airport security majorly; they now heavily check luggage, passengers, etc. All of this has been caused due to the tragedy of September first and we are making sure that nothing like it ever happens again.
I have been on a play but i do not recall my first trip
ReplyDeleteI've heard and read about 911, and I'm aware that it was a pre-planned attack on the United States by the militant Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. I'm also aware that many people died, and that air travel has evolved significantly since then. Security processes and safeguards have been greatly improved, and rules and regulations have been treated much more seriously. It is important that we all know of this event, because ot is a large part of our history.
I completely agree, it is super important that people are taught about 9/11. Great blog
DeleteI’ve been on plane rides before, and I actually really enjoy it. Something about packing my bag, leaving the house with my family, the rush you feel when you’re finally on the plane and the satisfaction when you’ve reached your destination is indescribably pleasant. My first plane ride was when I was 2 years old. My family and I were going to Disneyland (Orlando, Florida) for the first time. I don’t really remember the actual plane ride, except for when my mom explained why there were vomit bags and looking out the window to see the bright city at night.
ReplyDelete9/11 was the worst and most tragic terrorist attack the US experienced. I have “general knowledge” about this day, which is that the first hijacked plane crashed into the north tower in the morning and the other hijacked plane hit the south tower shortly after. Although, I can definitely educate myself on the attacks. Every year on September 11, the world mourns. In a way, we all hold a connection on this day by reflecting and thinking about the tragedy. I think that’s why 9/11 is so important, every lost life is so important and everybody (globally) understands that.
I love looking out the window on planes too. Great blog
DeleteI've never been to disneyland before, but it sounds fun.
DeleteI have been on a plane many times, however, I don’t remember where my first trip was. It might’ve been Aruba but I really have no idea. Before covid hit, I would go to Aruba every summer. I’ve been going since I was two years old so I went 9 years in a row, 2020 was going to be our 10th year, but obviously covid hit. I would also go to Disney, I went about 5 years in a row, but again, covid hit. I’ve definitely learned a lot about 9/11 and how it affected the world, and it’s also my mom’s birthday on that day so it’s a bittersweet day.
ReplyDeleteI have been on a plane a couple of times in my life. I don’t remember my first trip, because I was really young. (1-2 years old) The next time I went on a plane/the one I actually remember about it was when I was 4-5. My family, and I, along with my grandparents, went to Cuba for a week. I remember my dad waking me up at like 4 in the morning, and us going to the airport and ending up flying at like 8-9 am. I know a decent amount about the 9/11 attacks, as grim as this sounds, it’s always been something that I have been interested in since I can remember learning about it. I can’t even imagine being on flight 93 and knowing that you are going to die, and making the sacrifice of taking down the plane before it hits their destination. What they did was very noble. It is super important to understand how 9/11 affected our world because it is such a huge tragedy and it completely changed how tight airport security has been after the attacks. It completely changed what you are allowed to bring on a flight, and I don’t think that it’s going to go back to what it was before the attacks.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about how 9/11 changed the way airports security worked.
DeleteI have only been on a plane once, it was however a pleasant experience. My family and I were headed to Florida since we had planned a trip to Disney world. The flight there was fairly laidback and I distinctly remember watching a movie to pass time. Although I do not know of the 9/11 attacks in great detail, I always remember hearing of it when the time came around. As the years progressed, I now have a better understanding of what happened and I sympathize for the victims. I couldn't even begin to imagine how terrible it must have been being a passenger on board of the planes. One of the consequences of the events were heightened airport security measures as to prevent any like it from ever happening again. I do believe its important to acknowledge what happened and pay respect to all the victims.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statements, it was for sure incredibly difficult for the victims as well as their families.
DeleteI have been on a few planes in the past. I don’t remember my first plane trip because I was a baby but I think it might have been to either England or Barcelona. I don’t know that much about 9/11. All I know is that they flew planes into the freedom tower. I think that it is important to understand how it affected the world because there are real problems and dangers in the world and its important to understand that people do terrible things and it showed people that things needed to change so that everyone could be safer.
ReplyDeleteThis first time I was on a plane, I was too young to remember. However, since I don't remember my first time I was on a plane, I’ll tell you about my most recent time on a plane and the longest time I’ve been on a plane. The most recent time I was on a plane was earlier this summer. Me and my sister, all alone, went on a 5 hour plane ride to Vancouver to visit our Grandparents. Nothing too interesting happened on the flight, my sister, who hates planes, handled it pretty well and I, who loves flying, had about the fun you’d expect. The longest flight I’ve ever been on was in 2018. I spent a total of 13 hours on a plane, 9 of which were just on one. It was awful, I was bored out of my mind and I couldn’t sleep, but I don't regret a minute of it because I had the best time of my life on that trip.
ReplyDeleteAs for what I know about 9/11, I know just as much as the average person. On September 11, 2001, two planes struck the twin towers, one after another. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the incident, although I have been to the 9/11 museum in New York, but I don’t remember much of it. The events of 9/11 were undoubtedly catastrophic. A lot of lives were lost that day, including those of the firefighter trying to help. Not so fun fact, Pete Davidson's father died on 9/11. 9/11 affected the world immensely, for the longest time there was fear among American lives about another potential terrorist attack. The entire world was affected by this fear, and because of it, the world will never be the same. Another fun fact, for a while after 9/11, Canadian airports allowed American flights to land in Canada out of fear of another attack.
I've been on a plane once, and it was last year. I now do not like planes. The food made my stomach act weird and I ended up feeling sick the entire plane ride. We went to Cuba which was really fun, and it was right before covid during march break.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do know of the 9/11 attack is that there was a group of 19 militants called al-Qaeda who killed almost 3000 people. I also know that all 19 terrorists died in a hijacked aircrafts that same day as well as over 400 police officers and firefighters who died after rushing to the scene. I know Osama bin Laden was the leader of al-Qaeda. What happened was, the group of attackers boarded four different aircrafts, and apparently they disabled the crews. They took control of the aircrafts and flew them into different buildings in the US. Some people even jumped to their deaths rather than burn to death when the buildings caught fire.
It's important that we understand how 9/11 affected the world so that we won't repeat our mistakes. The same way we learn about the world wars, the holocaust, slavery and residential schools is to learn about the history of our world and how to be better as a human race.

I’ve been travelling my whole life, and seeing as my first plane ride to Florida happened when I was 9 months old, I don’t really remember it. I do, however, remember watching a documentary about the gut-wrenching events of September 11th, 2001. On that day, terrorists took several planes hostage. Two crashed into the Twin Towers in New York, demolishing them completely, while the one headed for the Pentagon crashed into its western side.
ReplyDeleteUnderstanding the events of 9/11 clarifies many of the things that have been ingrained into our society after these attacks. For example, airports and airlines have heightened their security to prevent these attacks, screening every traveller and asking for identification. The financial losses incurred by the travel industry after the events are the reason why we have to pay for food on planes.
All in all, 9/11 was a harrowing event that affected not only the United States, but the rest of the world as well. Students should be educated on these events the same way they would be for revolutions and wars, as this was a devastating attack that changed the lives of billions, they should be able to learn not only about the attack itself, but also its aftermath.
I have been on a plane a fair amount in my life 2 of those times being to nyc. However i can scarcely remember my first flight. My first flight was when i was 6 when me and my family went to the dominican republic for a week.I still have some of the photos from that trip and my parent still say it was their favorite vacation they had ever been on. HOwever at that time i was not aware of the events that had ocurre in N.Y.C in 2001.When i got older around 11 or so i believe i started to understand the scale of what happened on september 11.I know relatively little but what i do know is that 2 american airlines flights were hijacked by members of the al qaeda terrorist group and promptly flown into arguably the most important buildings in north america at the time the twin towers. This was done in an attempt to spread fear.I believe it also important to understand the effect these gruesome events had on the world.9/11 changed the world in many ways such as the war in iraq and the improvement of the tsa.9/11 did not only change organisations it changed people's mentalities on terrorists and war in general because many americans and people of other nationalities had family or friends who where injured or even killed in the 9/11 attacks. It is important that we look back on these events and mourn the loss of so many innocents.
ReplyDeleteI actually can’t remember how many plane flights I’ve been on but I know it’s a lot. My family loves to travel so naturally I’ve been on many flights around the world. I also love flying, everytime I look out the window I’m amazed by the view and it feels like it’s my first time on a plane again. My first ever plane ride was when I was two years old and my family took a flight to Cuba. I was too young to remember anything that happened on that entire trip. The first plane ride that I can remember was the next year when my family took a trip to Florida.
ReplyDeleteI have the general idea about what happened on September 11, 2001. I know that there was a series of attacks on the united states by terrorists who hijacked planes and crashed them into building, most notably the twin towers in New York City. Lives were lost and 911 has forever changed the way we view travel and security.
I do not go on planes much because my family likes traveling within a short distance which would not make much sense to travel by plane. The only place I have ever gone on vacation is within the country to Toronto or Ontario and Florida in the United-States. I do not remember the first time I went on a plane because I was a newborn. Although I do know that I went to Miami Florida with my family for a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, 20 years ago a tragic event occurred when 2 planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City and another at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Approximately 3000 people had died. This attack was organised by the terrorist group Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was founded by Osama Bin Laden. Osama was the leader of this group at the time and it was him who directed the attack. After the tragic event Osama had a 20 million dollar bounty on his head for anyone that killed or found him. Bin Laden was killed 10 years after the attack in a raid in Afghanistan.
Even though only three planes crashed into the buildings, there was actually a fourth plane hijacked the same day. The plane was supposedly supposed to crash in the Whitehouse or Parliament building. However, the passengers had taken over the plane and they crashed in a forest in Pennsylvania.
The reason why I know so much about this is because I had watched many documentaries about this topic in the past. I was really interested about this event and the aftermath and the way it had affected the world. Since the event, airport security has changed drastically. The United States now has a lot more precautions to make sure another horrible event like this will never happen again.
The people that have been lost during this dreaded day will always be remembered. This was not just a horrible day for the United States but for the entire world. The world has changed since 9/11.
